TSF PLANNER

Description

With safety as a core value, the TSF Planner will provide technical and operational expertise to Mount Polley while becoming a valuable member of the Water and TSF Department. Reporting to the Water and TSF Superintendent the TSF Planner will be responsible to administer programs, systems, and practices that result in the safest possible working environment and place safety as the highest priority and ensuring mining occurs in the most environmentally sound manner. 

Responsibilities

Job duties will include but will not be limited to the following:  
  • Foster a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on common values of health, safety, environment, and communities.
·         Develop TSF construction and work preparedness schedules. ·         Construction support. Tracking building materials and ensuring appropriate steps taken to maintain sufficient levels. ·         Analysis of instrumentation data and appropriate follow-up ·         Track TSF physicals and predicting (modelling) future conditions o    Beach widths o    Water levels and volume o    Available storage o    Snowpack o    Freshet and storm prediction and management. ·         Assist in water management infrastructure design and water balance modelling. ·         Site water management infrastructure monitoring ·         Mentor Instrumentation Technicians and provide vacation coverage as needed. ·         Survey and technical assistance for tailings storage facility construction and develop as-builts. ·         Collect field readings, assembling, and analyzing data from vibrating wire piezometers, slope inclinometers, shape-accel-array and surface monuments as needed ·         Chair weekly TSF construction and water management meetings.
  • Other ad hoc duties as directed by your supervisor or the company.
 

Qualifications

  • Two to Five years of experience in mining operations, tailings management or technical professional setting (equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered).
  • Diploma in Mining or Civil
  • Degree in Mine Engineering preferred Previous related mining experience will be an asset but is not a requirement, other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong work ethic, communication, and organizational skills with ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications and capabilities as related to work requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with the use of instrument monitoring, data acquisition and computing instruments.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license from the Province of British Columbia.
