TSF Instrumentation Technician

Mount Polley Mining Corporation currently has a position available for a permanent, full-time TSF Instrumentation Technician in our water and TSF department.

Responsibilities

With safety as a core value, the TSF Instrumentation Technician will provide technical and operational expertise to Mount Polley while becoming a valuable member of the Water and TSF Department. Reporting to the Water and TSF Superintendent the TSF Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for carrying out instrumentation monitoring and reading of geotechnical instrumentation, data processing, research, data and document review, inspections, instrumentation maintenance and testing, preparation of specifications and drawings, cost estimates, scheduling, and report preparation. Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Collecting field readings, assembling, and analyzing data from vibrating wire piezometers, slope inclinometers, shape-accel-array and surface monuments.
  • Preparing weekly tailings storage facility instrumentation and inspection reports.
  • Coordinating, executing, and reporting on routine inspections and testing of the infrastructure to support site safety.
  • Surveying and technical assistance for tailings storage facility and site projects
  • Answering verbal and written inquiries on water and drainage matters from external parties.
  • Performing variety of office duties including filing, drawings, and charts, inspection reports.
  • Other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Shift will be 4 (10hr days) followed by 3 days off.

Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience in mining operations or technical professional setting (equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered).
  • Previous related mining experience will be an asset but is not a requirement, other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong work ethic, communication, and organizational skills with ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications and capabilities as related to work requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with the use of instrument monitoring, data acquisition and computing instruments.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license from the Province of British Columbia.
