Mill Operations Supervisor

Description

The Mill Supervisor you will ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations as well as the Company policies and procedures.  The Mill Supervisor will establish a workforce in mill operations capable of working safely and meeting budgeted production criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe work practices by promoting a safe work culture and ensure compliance with all site safety regulations.
  • Promote and foster Company goals and objectives with all Mill activities.
  • Apply all applicable regulations, codes, and site standards to all Mill processes and procedures.
  • Meet commitments in tonnage and quality, equipment, and manpower utilization, and budget/cost control.
  • Create and maintain performance reports, skills assessments, and effective deployment of personnel.
  • Maintain close communications with the Maintenance Department as required to ensure the efficiency of the operations and the highest possible availability.
  • Ensure work is being done safely and correcting any unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Ensure that only authorized and adequately trained workers operate tools and equipment or use hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform Lock out/Tag out isolation in accordance with the Company’s Lock Out procedure.
  • Inspect the tailings storage facility during the shift.
  • Follow-up with accident prevention training where necessary.
  • Plan and manage the workload of mill processing operators to achieve desired production goals.
  • Inspect each operating circuit during each shift.
  • Assist mill operators in troubleshooting operational, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation issues to avoid downtime.
  • Work with other departments to ensure production standards are being met.
  • Promote and demonstrate Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Effective conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in crushing, grinding, floatation and thickening processes considered an asset.
  • Control Room/DCS experience considered and asset.
  • Effective operational troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.
